Climate Controlled Vs. Non-Climate Controlled |
|
There has always been the question of climate vs. non-climate controlled storage. Over years of observation we have seen that if you are planning on storing for less than 2-3 months climate control in not an issue. Non-climate control will work just fine. Not to mention it will save time and money on the unload and reload when moving.
First because your belongings are stored in a clean, dry space doesn't mean they're completely protected from the elements. Your stuff can bake or freeze in a storage space the same as items that are sitting in the car parked in your driveway. They can also get damp and moldy like things placed in a dark closet at your home. Fortunately, you can help preserve the conditions of your valuable belongings by putting them in a storage climate controlled unit.
Climate control is only necessary when you are planning for your items to be in storage for over 3 months to possibly a year or years (see the important note at the bottom of this page).

Important note: Climate controlled storage is not true climate control at most facilities. The building outside doors leading into the hallway open many times per day causing all of the air conditioning to escape and the outside atmosphere conditions the opportunity to enter. These doors can stay open for hours each day. So you are spending money for the same as outside storage. The answer to this is to find a storage facility that has less traffic coming in and out per day. We have several recommendations to storage facilities we know that has a slow traffic, which will provide a better climate controlled environment for the safety of your valued items.
